Fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride, better known as Max, knows what it's like to soar above the world. She and all the members of the "Flock"--Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman and Angel--are just like ordinary kids--only they have wings and can fly. It may seem like a dream come true to some, but their lives can morph into a living nightmare at any time--like when Angel, the youngest member of the "Flock," is kidnapped and taken back to the "School" where she and the others were genetically engineered by sinister scientists. Her friends brave a journey to blazing hot Death Valley, CA, to save Angel, but soon enough, they find themselves in yet another nightmare--this one involving fighting off the half-human, half-wolf "Erasers" in New York City. Whether in the treetops of Central Park or in the bowels of the Manhattan subway system, Max and her adopted family take the ride of their lives. Along the way Max discovers from her old friend and father-figure Jeb--now her betrayed and greatest enemy--that her purpose is save the world--but can she?

Whenever anyone who knows anything about books and authors hears the name "James Patterson," there is an immediate reaction. It could bring on whispers of "Oh....Patterson writes sooooo good." Or, perhaps, "That guy? He's written too many books for his own good." My reaction is, "Wow."
Yeah, James Patterson has written a lot of books, and his writing style is really awesome. But with the Maximum Ride series, I was absolutely blown away. It was like reading a video game! There was just enough action and just enough drama that it kept me hooked until it finally ended with the flock headed to Washington, D.C.
I just wish Patterson could have provided a little more info about Jeb and the "School". Sure, I'm supposed to buy the next one (School's Out - Forever), but that's not going to happen for a couple of weeks, so I'm just left confused.
I've got a story to go with this book -
Okay, so unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past four or five years, you should know about the huge franchise of "Twilight". (You know, that series about the girl who falls in love with a vampire AND a werewolf and can't decide which one she loves more? Yeah. That's the one I'm talking about. BUT HOW COULD I MENTION IT IN THE SAME ARTICLE AS THIS BOOK? There's a reason.) So, anyway, I saw this petition online that said:
"Please sign if you protest Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart acting as Fang and Max in the Maximum Ride movie"
Well, I totally signed that one quickly. For one, Robert Pattinson is just plain UGLY. And Kristen is the human equivelant of a blank page. So there.
